    Description

5 vintage reproduction posters purchased from Battlefield Museum gift shops in the early 1960's.  These include Lincoln's handwritten version of the Gettysburg Address, Reward poster for the Lincoln assassins, 1862 Civil War Sharpshooters recruiting poster, 1861 Freemen of Tennessee recruiting poster, and the 1862 Butler's Proclamation (hilarious edict to women of Union occupied New Orleans by Maj. Gen. Butler warning them to stop their very vocal & ill tempered treatment of Union soldiers by basically threatening "if you are going to act like whores, we will treat you accordingly".  The backlash internationally ended his command.  These posters were artificially aged before sell and now are somewhat brittle after 60 years and have a couple of split folds which could be easily repaired for mounting.  They will need to be steamed to lay flat.  Original envelopes included as pictured.  Neat old conversation pieces, thanks for looking!
