    Description

    The certificate was issued to Sydney E Hutchinson as a Founder Member. He was President of The Jefferson Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia.
    It  was a downtown men's social club formed to promote athletics that asked the West Philadelphia Boat Club to change its name to Penn Athletic Club the club remains active today and operates out of Boathouse Row.
    Dated September 30, 1931.
    The club was located at 219-229 S 18th St. in Philadelphia in Rittenhouse Square.
