Please understand that eBay has made a decision to no longer permit Confederate battle flag and related listings. We believe the image of the flag itself has become a contemporary symbol of divisiveness and racism. This is not a reflection or judgement on anyone selling the item and we respect that there are a wide variety of opinions on this issue. We thank you for your understanding and ask you to please not list these kinds of items.

    Introducing
    For The First Time
    General Robert E. Lee
    Signed Print
    The Photo
In this amazing photo taken in the studio of Minnis & Cowell of General Lee in the fall of 1863, he is wearing the uniform he surrendered in at Appomattox Court House to General Grant. There are some differences of opinion on the uniform he wore on that day, but historical facts speak for themselves and are undeniable.
The actual description written at the time of the surrender depicts Gen. Lee in just the same uniform with the front buttoned all the way up. There is also an illustration that can be seen in my eBay Store that was drawn as General Lee was leaving the McLean House at Appomattox, April 9, 1865 at approximately 4pm.  Depicting the uniform he wore.
“He wore a new uniform of Confederate gray,
buttoned up to the throat…” In this p
hotographed his uniform is opened at the throat and he is wearing his Three Star Buckle. At the McLean House I am sure he wore his dress sash and dress buckle. ''
Sadly the statue of General Robert E. Lee, a great American that was in the Capital of Richmond, Va. has been removed. Our history is being erased. This is not a good thing.
Eyewitness to the surrender, describes his actual uniform in detail:
"He wore a new uniform of Confederate Gray,
    buttoned up to the throat,
and at his side he carried a long sword of exceedingly fine workmanship, the hilt studded with jewels. His top boots were comparatively new, and seemed to have on them some ornamental stitching of red silk. Like his uniform, they were singularly clean, and but little traveled stained. On the boots were handsome spurs, with large rowels. A felt hat, which in color matched pretty closely that of his uniform, and a pair of long buckskin gauntlets lay besides him on the table".
Eye witness to History • Surrender at Appomattox 1865 • by Union General Horace Porter, Aid de Camp to General Grant.

In this photo General Lee is wearing the "
    Three Star Buckle".
This buckle is also illustrated on the Statue located in the rotunda of The Capital Building in the hall of Delegates in Richmond,

The bronze statue of Gen. Lee by sculptor Rudulph Evans). This statue was made from this photograph. See images of statue for further provenance.

The Lee’s are sticklers in preserving the Image of General Robert E. Lee. Sadly so much so that as generations go by and the memories of this great American are fading from the minds of the youth of today. How should I put it? Having worked with a Lee (Bob Lee) for several years in the Graphic Arts, well they are Lees and being a Lee makes you different. You are a "Lee". Remember the Lee's help build this wonderful
country. General Lee's father was General Light Horse Harry Lee of the Continental Army and two of his relatives signed the Declaration of Independence.
This LOT is for ONE  signed photo reproduction bearing General Lee’s signature (
General Lee did not sign this photograph
    ).
Each CSA Signature Series photograph comes with a short excerpt out Southern Civil War history describing the heroic figure with an appropriate Confederate flag (as above) at the head of the sheet. Tastefully printed on grey cover stock, suitable for framing.
    The Photograph:
This is a photo reproduction that has been restored. This photograph, the finest of General Lee as a soldier, was taken in Richmond Studios of Minnis and Cowell some time in 1863, when General Lee was fifty-six.  More then likely in the fall when there was a lull and General Grant was forming his strategy.
Image size: approximate over all size
    7 1/4
    x 10 3/4 inches.
This outstanding photograph is over one gigabit in size in a 16bit format. Printed on satin finish archival
    paper
(260gsm, that is 11 mil thick sheet)
with archival inks and UV sprayed.
This is a Fine Art Museum Quality Print. This photo bears Gen. Lee’s signature in brown,
    RE Lee Gen.
There are only two photographs (
in both he is wearing his Three Star Buckle
) being offered with this signature. Do to General Lee's current condition he did not sign this photograph. His signature has been carefully applied to it. General Lee is wearing his Three Star buckle in this photograph. It does not get any better then this.
The Buckle General Lee is wearing: The "Three Star Buckle"
Judging from the design of the buckle, General Lee must have designed it himself. It matches the three stars on the collar of his uniform, and is the rank he always displayed. General Lee was a Union Colonel before he resigned. He wore the rank of a Confederate Colonel through out the war.

“These photographs are not just reproductions of old photos, the way they have been restored and the depth of each image makes them art, they belong in a museum”.

    Errata:
    SOME people
seem a little confused as to my descriptions: (I want nobody to be disappointed in there purchase, I take great pride in what I do).
Let me make myself perfectly clear. What you see, is what you get, the image on eBay is the PRODUCT you will receive, and in all cases much better. I have described in great detail each item and exactly what it is. If you have any requests or questions please do not hesitate to ask before you order, I will be happy to answer them.
    Know what you are buying.
It is what it is, a
    Museum Quality print
made and restored from a digital file using the original old glass negative and in rare instances a print, it is
    NOT
an original print made in the 1860's and restored, (seems I had one buyer expecting an original restored print made in 1870 with actual signatures made by the General's on the print for only .95???) it is a
    restored
    archival digital reproduction
, with the General's signature carefully applied in brown to simulate the ink used at that time which was purple, blue with a high iron content that rusted over time. I know this sounds silly, but the statue is for comparison purposes only and is not part of this sale. America is a wonderful place.
Again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Much to my surprise there is a review of this image by some twit stating there is not enough background, this issue has been corrected. NOTE: I have never seen this image of General Lee with more
background. The Background in this photograph has been added by me in this extensive restoration.
