    Description

This is a OOAK doll -- a 1973 Quick Curl Francie with hair restyled into a flip similar to Midge's hairstyle, and with a headband like the "No Bangs Francie".  The original doll had hair that was very messy and tangled.  I do not have a "before" photo of the hair, but let's just say it was a mess!  The Quick Curl doll's hair was made with thin metal filaments mixed in with the hair, to make the curls stay, and when the doll's hair gets messed up, it all gets very stiff and wiry.  But I washed it and smoothed it out into this short flip, and added a yellow-tan headband to keep the hair in place.  The hair is not perfect -- there are still a few flyaway strands here and there --  but it looks much better than it did before!
She is wearing a Mattel Cut N Sew dress in an interesting mod design.  I thought the dress looked like it was made for her.   I'm not sure what year this Cut N Sew dress came out, but I think it was the early 1970's.  She has the white square-toe shoes that the Quick Curl Francie doll originally came with.
There is also a second dress that I'm including.  This is a homemade mod shift dress that I found right with to the Cut N Sew dress --  made long ago by the same person who made the Cut N Sew dress.  It is a birght mod striped fabric in beautiful blue, green and tan colors.  Both of the dresses display well.  You can tell they were sewn by a child (for example you can see the hand-stitching around the neckline of the Cut N Sew dress) but they were made well.
This doll does have some flaws -- namely, her right leg does not bend, and there is a nick in the vinyl on the back of that leg.  The left leg does bend well.   The rest of the body looks in very good shape.  She has a twist and turn waist.
This Francie has the same exact face as the rare "Baggy Francie" that came a year or so later, with long hair.   The face paint is in great shape.
