    Description

    This is a lot of 5 metal plaques!
    The Tahquamenon Falls Riverboat Tours and the famous Toonerville Trolley was started in 1929 by Captain Joe Beach in Newberry, Michigan (upper peninsula of Michigan). The tour began at the Soo Junction where riders were greeted with a hardy "All Aboard" call. They were off on the Toonerville Trolley for an exciting journey - a 6 mile ride through a thick, primeval forest where they would thrill to the sight of deer, bear, other wild animals and birds in their natural habitat along the trolley tracks. The trolley took riders to Hunter's Mill where the stately River boats were boarded for a 21 mile scenic cruise down the Tahquamenon River. These metal plaques were souvenirs of the trolley part of that 7 hour tour that ran up to two times daily during the peak season of the summer months. The cost of the tour was .50 for adults and .75 for children. The dimension of these pressed steel plaques is approx. 7 inches wide by 5 inches tall. The scene is an actual photo of a tour in progress, and was believed to have been taken in the 1950's. They were manufactured by The Reynolds Mfg. Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
